How-To: Memorize A Lot Of Vocabulary!

Hey you guys!

I thought I would share some techniques I learned over the years from learning vocabulary for school and just to know the English language (which is my second language). Please keep in mind though, this might not work for you. But it works so, so well for me that I thought I should tell it to the rest of the world.

I am a visual person, and I learn really well through interactive techniques or being able to use my hands or body to learn. But writing down information and repetitively studying it works fantastically too.

You will need:
1: Flash cards! Or pieces of paper, but I think flash cards are the best because they aren't too large and you can take them anywhere. I usually use the 3x5 ones.
2: A pencil.
3: Your completely focused brain.

Write down the word on one side, and the translation or definition on the other. Do this for all of your words - I know it's ridiculously tedious, but science proves that writing down information helps you retain it three times better than just saying it out loud!

After writing down all the words, go through every single one and put the ones you know on one side and the ones you don't one the other. Now, don't try to tell yourself that you got that last one right, you just needed a quick hint from the card. NO! If you think that you got it the slightest bit wrong or needed help, put it in the "I don't know" pile! This will help you memorize them for the better. And if you don't know a word - please try to keep the definition or translation in your head. PLEASE!

Leave the cards that you know on the side and pick up the ones you don't know. Go through them again. Put the ones you know on the "I know" side and if you don't know it, put it in another pile. Trust me, the "I know" pile will continue to grow. Until you don't even have an "I don't know" pile, keep going, repeating this step.

Then once you don't have the "I don't know" pile, go through the "I know" pile three to five times, making no mistakes. This will help you remember the words after the period of time.

The reason I ask you to leave the "I know" pile alone is so you can be sure that you have retained the information after thinking of the words you don't know. You are able to pay more attention to the "I don't know" pile and learn and memorize more quickly. This is very effective.

On the day of the exam or quiz, just lightly go over the words, don't panick! You've worked really hard to study.. Enjoy it!

TIPS and TRICKS!!

Find relations to words that you already know to ones you don't. So an example would be: the Spanish word "contra" means against. How I would remember it is using the English word "contrast" - which sound alike and the meanings are similar. This will help you like it helped me - I promise! But don't over think it - use the ones that come to you naturally or with little effort. After time, making these relations will be so easy!

Don't think that once you go through everything and know it all, that it's over. Keep lightly going through the cards again, when you're avaliable.

Get a good night's sleep, and eat a light but filling breakfast on the day of the exam. It will help you concentrate and feel awake.

GOOD LUCK!!

Thank you so much for reading! I truly hope that this will help! :)))

My Skincare Routine... And Treating My Acne.

Hello, lovelies!

You probably don't know that I have acne - and for quite a while too. I've had acne for maybe three years. My acne has been a constant source of insecurities for me. At first, it was majorly centered on my forehead. Then it spread down to my cheek area. Then over the course of the next year, it had left my forehead, and now I had whiteheads and cystic pimples on my cheeks. I also have oily skin, and medium-sensitive skin if you are wondering.

I've used a lot of expensive products for my acne - Murad, Proactiv, ect. Yet none of these managed to get rid of my acne. For a while, I thought I was going to have acne forever. Then I realized that I wasn't consistent with my routine - sometimes I would just wash my face with water or skip washing my face at night overall - which is terrible! Your skin heals at night, while you sleep, and that's when you have your best chance of healing your acne, and it's important to make sure it is clean. Then I started washing my face, toning, and moisturizing every morning and night. I went through a lot of high end and drugstore products, until I saw ilikeweylie's video (she's hilarious, go watch her sometime!) on YouTube, on her skincare. It involved Neutrogena's Rapid Clear Line, and that's exactly what I tried out.

I use three products daily, two more every other day.

Daily, I use Neutrogena's Rapid Clear Foaming Scrub, Rapid Clear 2-in-1 Fight & Fade Toner (It fights acne and fades acne scars!), along with Clean & Clear's Oil Free Dual action moisturizer. Every other night, I exfoliate with Dermalogica's Clearing Skin Wash and Olay's Pro-X Advanced Clearing System.

So now I am going to tell you what I do with my skin every morning and night.

I, of course, wash my face with the Rapid Clear foaming scrub. I do this with warm water because it opens up my pores and allows the scrub to work its magic. I gently rub it around my face, concentrating on my main problem areas for around thirty seconds. Then I wash it off with lukewarm water and pat my face dry with a towel (please don't rub the towel across your face - it causes wrinkles and stretches your skin!)

When your face is completely dry, get a pump of the Clean & Clear moisturizer (I know it sounds backwards, but trust me!) and rub it evenly into your face. The reason for this is because the Rapid Clear Scrub is kind of drying so I moisturize before I put on the also drying toner. After you have rubbed it all in, grab some of the Rapid Clear Fight & Fade Toner. Not too much, not too little. The amount is based on your skin and how much you prefer. But make sure it's enough, because too little won't do much. Pat that into your face completely, and wait ten seconds.

Then go back with the moisturizer, one pump will do. Rub it on to your face, and you're done! Your face should feel very clean and refreshed. You can add a bit more moisturizer if your face still feels dry, though.

Now I'm going to explain my every other night routine. Instead of using the Rapid Clear Scrub, I use the Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash. I tried exfoliating with the Rapid Clear, but it made skin super dry and it felt raw, also the microbeads in it could scratch your skin. Dermalogica isn't too drying and is a comes out as a gel.

I squeeze out of dime-size amount of the Dermalogica facewash, and rub it all over my face. Then I use the Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System to exfoliate. Concentrate on your main problem areas, because that's where you want to clean the most. Do this for forty-five seconds. Wash everything off, then repeat the moisturizer and toner routine.

I really hope this helped - it's transformed my skin. While I do have acne, it's not as bad, it's so much better and most of the big pimples are gone.

But just remember - what worked for me might not work for you, because we all have different skin. Good luck!

SKYFALL 007; RECAP

All right, I just came back from Skyfall 007. Before I write this, I want you to know that I overreact hugely when it comes to movies - whether if it is crying or screaming. I ranted on for thirty minutes at one in the morning after I saw Breaking Dawn Part 2 - even though that is a whole another story. But that doesn't take away from the amazingness of this movie.

Click the above picture ^ to go to the official Skyfall 007 website!

I'm going to try to explain how I feel about this movie right now. It's an emotion with terror, excitement, thrill, breathlessness, and all of those factors again and again. Try imagine breathing really hard and having the scenes play back through your brain. Multiply by the biggest number you can possibly think of. I hope you can understand how I am feeling right now.

MAJOR SPOILER: IF YOU ARE GOING TO WATCH THE MOVIE AND HAVEN'T PREVIOUSLY PLEASE KINDLY SKIP THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH.
The last fifteen minutes of the movie is where my excitement came from. When Bond is running across the frozen lake and is attacked by Silver and his gunman person, my heart literally froze. M and the cute old guy were huddled in the little shed and it seemed like Bond was about to go down. THEN HE SHOOTS THE FREAKING ICE WHICH IS PROBABLY AT -3451923094915789 DEGREES AND SINKS WITH THE GUNMAN. He's being strangled, unable to breathe in the freezing water. They just keep on sinking and sinking and sinking in a dark, dreary lake that seems to go on forever. Then somehow Bond gets the gunman in a headlock and then breaks his neck. Unable to find an opening in the ice above, he grabs the gun or whatever it was from the gunman and shoots the ice. The screen goes into a thing of white now. Then it goes to the lonely shed, where Silver sees Bond's parents' grave. By then I was like "PLEASE LORD DON'T LET THE OLD GUY AND M DIE PLEASE DON'T" and he walks up the stairs to see M on the pews. He's going on about how it HAD to be like this and the cute old guy walks in saying "I couldn't find the..." then Silver shoots the wall next to him (WHICH BY THE WAY WAS LIKE 2 INCHES) and the old   man's face was frozen, then I sincerely thought that he was dead. And I was NO NO NO NON ONONONONONOONNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO then he blinks and moves. Then I was okay, until Silver starts approaching M. He sees that she's shot and pretends to caress her, and then my friend and I were like "He's gonna shoot her right now, he's gonna do it!!!!!!!!!" He stands up and places the gun in her hand and his head next to hers, and tells her that it is up to her. To kill both of them right now. I was dying. The scene lasted for five seconds which seemed like a billion years. You can ask my friend, I was breathing so hard and so far down my chair I was about to fall off. M's expression was so freaking genuine to the point I was terrified. Then Bond walks in and throws a knife at Silver's back and while Silver dies, tells him "The last rat standing" or something like that. After that, Bond supports M while she is losing her breath. I was thinking that the scene would freeze right there and then she would be okay, transported to a medical center or something. But NO!!O!!!P!O!O!O!O!OO! She dies right there! In Bond's arms!! Then he closes her eyes and the screen goes black.

Welcome back, to all of you who skipped the previous paragraph.

That last part literally had me dangling off of my chair. Now I am going to tell you this. I love popcorn. During movies, I'm one of those people who manages to eat a bag of popcorn during the previews. Being serious here. I grabbed a handful of the popcorn about 20 minutes before the movie ended, then when it was over it was still there. Not in my intestines, but in my hand! That's an overwhelming sign that the movie (at least the ending) is absolutely spectacular. If you haven't seen Skyfall 007, you are missing out on life. GET OUT OF THE CHAIR RIGHT NOW AND GO WATCH IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Just Keep Swimming...

I mean this as in never give up, always keep going, and also to just actually keep swimming.

I came back from my first swim meet today. You have no idea about how terrified I was, about how bad I was going to be, thinking of all these ridiculous things that has probably a .009% chance of happening. Time rushed by so fast for me. School was over, and then my whole swim team and I were on a bus to the hosting school. It was a big meet, and I knew that there was going to be people worse than me, which did make me feel better.

I did a lot better than I thought I would. When you swim in a race, you don't think. My 50 freestyle was one of the somewhat earlier events, but still far from the first. Time raced by. In what seemed like just a few minutes, my cap and goggles were on, and my coach was telling me to go stand near my lane. I didn't even bother to take notice of the serious nervousness I was going through. Suddenly, the previous heats were over, and it was my time to race. I stood up on the block, and I heard the words "Swimmers, ready", then the unmistakable beep. My start was pretty strong, I got about five or six meters in a streamline, then raced the rest. I don't remember anything after that, just straining to hit the end as fast as possible. You go, you splash and kick as hard as you can, and you don't really register the effort it takes until you get out of the water. I was so tense and my muscles strangely sore after I went out of the water. Apparently I had been about six seconds in front of my heat, and I had dropped like five seconds from my best time in practice. Which is CRAZY, right?? But I feel like it's because of during a race, it's so official, you know it's time to put everything you have out there. I never felt like that in a practice, but now I know that I can be just as good as the others.

That was the moment I realized that you never give up, no matter how hard it is, and you keep going until you get there. Don't give up, because as a graffiti on the Brooklyn Bridge says, "You have to feel weak before you feel strong".

So don't stop because something is challenging. It's supposed to be like that. Life would be so boring if everything you did, you were fantastic at it naturally. Keep going and don't stop, eventually you will get to the very top.

Happy New Year's! 2K13!!

As I am writing this sentence, there is 39 more minutes to the year 2012. I feel as if this year has gone by really quickly, filled with happy and sad memories. I met a lot of new people, learned new things, tried out a lot of things, and I've just had a really excellent year. Sure, there were ups and downs, but I think it's really hard to be happy for 365 days a year.

As much as I will miss 2012, I believe that I have lived most of it to the fullest. I've taken a lot of chances, and lost and won, and I think that's what it made it a really good year. 2012 was a year that affected a lot of my life. I've realized a lot of things about myself, and others. I hope 2013 will be a year to remember, a great year full of happiness and laughter.

I want to become a better person, change my faults to something that will benefit me and others. An example would be cleaning my room and keeping it tidy. There is a lot of things that I need to change about myself, and I'm hoping to do so this year.

I hope you guys have an excellent 2013, and Happy New Year's you guys!!!
