How-To: Memorize A Lot Of Vocabulary!

Hey you guys!

I thought I would share some techniques I learned over the years from learning vocabulary for school and just to know the English language (which is my second language). Please keep in mind though, this might not work for you. But it works so, so well for me that I thought I should tell it to the rest of the world.

I am a visual person, and I learn really well through interactive techniques or being able to use my hands or body to learn. But writing down information and repetitively studying it works fantastically too.

You will need:
1: Flash cards! Or pieces of paper, but I think flash cards are the best because they aren't too large and you can take them anywhere. I usually use the 3x5 ones.
2: A pencil.
3: Your completely focused brain.

Write down the word on one side, and the translation or definition on the other. Do this for all of your words - I know it's ridiculously tedious, but science proves that writing down information helps you retain it three times better than just saying it out loud!

After writing down all the words, go through every single one and put the ones you know on one side and the ones you don't one the other. Now, don't try to tell yourself that you got that last one right, you just needed a quick hint from the card. NO! If you think that you got it the slightest bit wrong or needed help, put it in the "I don't know" pile! This will help you memorize them for the better. And if you don't know a word - please try to keep the definition or translation in your head. PLEASE!

Leave the cards that you know on the side and pick up the ones you don't know. Go through them again. Put the ones you know on the "I know" side and if you don't know it, put it in another pile. Trust me, the "I know" pile will continue to grow. Until you don't even have an "I don't know" pile, keep going, repeating this step.

Then once you don't have the "I don't know" pile, go through the "I know" pile three to five times, making no mistakes. This will help you remember the words after the period of time.

The reason I ask you to leave the "I know" pile alone is so you can be sure that you have retained the information after thinking of the words you don't know. You are able to pay more attention to the "I don't know" pile and learn and memorize more quickly. This is very effective.

On the day of the exam or quiz, just lightly go over the words, don't panick! You've worked really hard to study.. Enjoy it!

TIPS and TRICKS!!

Find relations to words that you already know to ones you don't. So an example would be: the Spanish word "contra" means against. How I would remember it is using the English word "contrast" - which sound alike and the meanings are similar. This will help you like it helped me - I promise! But don't over think it - use the ones that come to you naturally or with little effort. After time, making these relations will be so easy!

Don't think that once you go through everything and know it all, that it's over. Keep lightly going through the cards again, when you're avaliable.

Get a good night's sleep, and eat a light but filling breakfast on the day of the exam. It will help you concentrate and feel awake.

GOOD LUCK!!

Thank you so much for reading! I truly hope that this will help! :)))

My Skincare Routine... And Treating My Acne.

Hello, lovelies!

You probably don't know that I have acne - and for quite a while too. I've had acne for maybe three years. My acne has been a constant source of insecurities for me. At first, it was majorly centered on my forehead. Then it spread down to my cheek area. Then over the course of the next year, it had left my forehead, and now I had whiteheads and cystic pimples on my cheeks. I also have oily skin, and medium-sensitive skin if you are wondering.

I've used a lot of expensive products for my acne - Murad, Proactiv, ect. Yet none of these managed to get rid of my acne. For a while, I thought I was going to have acne forever. Then I realized that I wasn't consistent with my routine - sometimes I would just wash my face with water or skip washing my face at night overall - which is terrible! Your skin heals at night, while you sleep, and that's when you have your best chance of healing your acne, and it's important to make sure it is clean. Then I started washing my face, toning, and moisturizing every morning and night. I went through a lot of high end and drugstore products, until I saw ilikeweylie's video (she's hilarious, go watch her sometime!) on YouTube, on her skincare. It involved Neutrogena's Rapid Clear Line, and that's exactly what I tried out.

I use three products daily, two more every other day.

Daily, I use Neutrogena's Rapid Clear Foaming Scrub, Rapid Clear 2-in-1 Fight & Fade Toner (It fights acne and fades acne scars!), along with Clean & Clear's Oil Free Dual action moisturizer. Every other night, I exfoliate with Dermalogica's Clearing Skin Wash and Olay's Pro-X Advanced Clearing System.

So now I am going to tell you what I do with my skin every morning and night.

I, of course, wash my face with the Rapid Clear foaming scrub. I do this with warm water because it opens up my pores and allows the scrub to work its magic. I gently rub it around my face, concentrating on my main problem areas for around thirty seconds. Then I wash it off with lukewarm water and pat my face dry with a towel (please don't rub the towel across your face - it causes wrinkles and stretches your skin!)

When your face is completely dry, get a pump of the Clean & Clear moisturizer (I know it sounds backwards, but trust me!) and rub it evenly into your face. The reason for this is because the Rapid Clear Scrub is kind of drying so I moisturize before I put on the also drying toner. After you have rubbed it all in, grab some of the Rapid Clear Fight & Fade Toner. Not too much, not too little. The amount is based on your skin and how much you prefer. But make sure it's enough, because too little won't do much. Pat that into your face completely, and wait ten seconds.

Then go back with the moisturizer, one pump will do. Rub it on to your face, and you're done! Your face should feel very clean and refreshed. You can add a bit more moisturizer if your face still feels dry, though.

Now I'm going to explain my every other night routine. Instead of using the Rapid Clear Scrub, I use the Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash. I tried exfoliating with the Rapid Clear, but it made skin super dry and it felt raw, also the microbeads in it could scratch your skin. Dermalogica isn't too drying and is a comes out as a gel.

I squeeze out of dime-size amount of the Dermalogica facewash, and rub it all over my face. Then I use the Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System to exfoliate. Concentrate on your main problem areas, because that's where you want to clean the most. Do this for forty-five seconds. Wash everything off, then repeat the moisturizer and toner routine.

I really hope this helped - it's transformed my skin. While I do have acne, it's not as bad, it's so much better and most of the big pimples are gone.

But just remember - what worked for me might not work for you, because we all have different skin. Good luck!
